7th December, 2006. 6:17 am. behold! the last entry!

I've decided to move, everyone. I have created a new journal! One that is less chock full of strange entries from tenth grade....

I have friended all of you, which is why a random person may appear on your friend-of list. Do not be afeared, it is only I. My new journal is:

neblinaclara

Farewell! *waves*

Oh, and good-bye random lurker. *waves at the random lurker*

5th December, 2006. 6:23 pm. girlish squee

Men's choir is SEXY. And also SCHMEXXAY. And also TOTALLY HAWTT.

Seriously. If I were a slut, I wouldn't sleep with the entire football team. I'd sleep with the entire men's choir. And there are a lot more of them, too. Muahahahaha.

Anyone who lives in this area....wait, I just realized that's no one since Brenner left livejournal...ok, well, if you lived in this area I would grab you by your sharp lapels and make you go to the concert tomorrow night. It's gonna be rockin'. And rollin'. And other things that start with r. w000000000000000000t!

Current mood: excited.
Current music: Prayer of the Children (in my head).

4th December, 2006. 11:20 pm. APUS wants my soul

Seriously. APUS is equivalent to Satan in that it wants my soul. But Satan is more fun.

Here are the things I should (have) work(ed) on tonight:

Degler Chapter IV Questions
Chapter 12 Outline (due ages ago, but I want to turn it in for late credit)
Presidential Notecards (also due ages ago, unlikely to be turned in ever...)
Chapter 13 Outline (due Wednesday or Friday, it's unclear)
Map thingy (Godzilla only knows what's up with *that*....)
Studying for Unit Test (yeah, because *that's* gonna happen...)

So. That's going well for me. *sigh* It. Wants. My soul. I am rapidly losing the ability to find this stuff interesting....and it *could* be if they wouldn't try to steal my *soul*. I *like* my soul. I would rather *keep* it instead of giving it to Messrs. Brinkley, Degler, Oates, and most of all, Evans.

You. Are. Satan.

Stop. Being. Satan.

*sigh* *trudges off with chains clanking*

Current mood: blah.

4th December, 2006. 6:23 pm. yet another

Yes, I know, I'm meme-tastic lately...they're an excellent procrastination technique...plus they're fun. So there.

2006...
1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before? became involved in a social set larger than five people (Cult!)

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't remember what I resolved...probably something to do with homework...and if you know me, you know how well *that* went...*chuckle*

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? The secretary/teacher at my dance school

4. Did anyone close to you die? no...*knocks wood a lot*

5. What countries did you visit? Spain!

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006? umm....a boyfriend, I suppose...or more hours in the day, but that seems unlikely

7. What date(s) from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Jan. 11 - destroyed friendship with Mat and Jen (but I'm over it)
June 25th - first day of CTY (or thereabouts)
November 4/5th - Reunion!
Dekember 28th - other Reunion! (although it hasn't happened yet...*knocks wood*)

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? hmm...I didn't really have any great big achievements...I got first place in my grade's writing contest...

9. What was your biggest failure? screwing up with Mat and Jen (but again, I'm over it)

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury? nope *knocks wood*

11. What was the best thing you bought? my quote notebook (first thing that came to mind and also awesome)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Many people....shan't list them all

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? George Bush, among others

14. Where did most of your money go? didn't have any, really...

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? CTY!!!! and its subsequent Reunions

16. What song will always remind you of 2006? Brimful of Asha, among other CTY canon songs

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? happier, although I wasn't especially sad this time last year
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner, I think...
iii. richer or poorer? no change, really, although my family as a whole is probably poorer...

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? homework...but that's boring...friend stuff, I suppose...reading...Cult time at CTY...(are we noticing a pattern?)

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? be cranky with people

20. How will you be spending Christmas? home, as always

22. Did you fall in love in 2006? not really

23. How many one-night stands? None

24. What was your favorite TV program? The West Wing

26. What was the best book you read? Probably 1984.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery? I'm not sure what is meant by quote musical discovery unquote...

28. What did you want and get? most of what I wanted, I got...

29. What did you want and not get? see above

30. What was your favorite film of this year? I don't remember all the movies I saw

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Sixteen...twas the first day of school, and we went to Las Tapas and opened presents

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? It was really pretty satisfying as it was. =)

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006? Winter was that-crazy-girl-with-odd-socks, summer was that-crazy-girl-with-skorts-and-flip-flops.

34. What kept you sane? Brenna and the Cult and ballet.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I don't really go in for that sort of thing.

36. What political issue stirred you the most? you pick 'em....either wire-tapping or the war

37. Who did you miss? Mat and Jen (they seem to be coming up a lot), John, Cultists

38. Who was the best new person you met? Couldn't possibly decide

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006: Never try to do anything important on a rainy Sunday when you're in a bad mood to begin with. It's kind of like operating heavy machinery on Ambien. Also, things tend to get better rather than worse.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: Oh dear...this year was so uppy-downy I don't know if one song lyric would do it...perhaps "Yesterday a child went out to wander...caught a dragonfly inside a jar..fearful when the sky was full of thunder...and tearful at the falling of a star." But that still doesn't quite cover it.

Current mood: thoughtful, but not sad.

3rd December, 2006. 7:40 pm.

Christmas Quiz (tis the season!)
Christmas quiz

1. Egg nog or Hot Chocolate?
hot chocolate with whipped cream, chocolate chips, and a little tiny candy cane

2. Does Santa wrap up presents or just sit them under the tree?
presents from Santa go in the stocking, presents from other people go under the tree

3. Coloured lights on tree/house or white?
well, we usually have white, but we have colored this year....I personally like white better

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
we have something similar to mistletoe over our kitchen door...I think it's fake though...I don't know...I've never seen mom buy any

5. When do you put your decorations up?
Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. And they come down January 6.

6. What is your favourite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
we don't really have food that's specific to christmas...

7. Favourite holiday memory as a child?
I always had nice Christmasses....probably hanging around by the fire listening to Mom read Christmas stories...but there's nothing specific because we do the same things every year, which is part of what makes it nice

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
ha...I believed in Santa until sixth grade, until my mom mentioned something revealing because she thought I'd have figured it out by then....I believed in *everything* when I was little...still do believe in a lot of things...

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
BLASPHEMY!!!

10. How do you decorate your tree?
An eight-foot tree in the bay window with something like 250 ornaments of all kinds...it's a huge project. And then there's a little one downstairs too, but that one's all Nutcracker-related things. It's my brother's tree; he's had it since he was four. He collects Nutcrackers and displays them under the tree every year. It's cool. We had a teddy tree for a while too, but we stopped putting it up because we couldn't handle three anymore...and we have the materials for a purple tree should we decide to put it up. And we always, always, ALWAYS use real trees.

11. Snow! Love it or dread it?
It's cool to get out of school...I used to go out and play in it, but now I'm happy to be inside with hot chocolate and a book.

12. Can you ice skate?
I can walk on ice with ice skates on, if I hold on to a rail for a lot of the time. But it's fun.

13. Do you remember your favourite gift?
Not really....I loved _At the Back of the North Wind_. I'm sure I've gotten grander presents than that, but I can't think of them just now.

14. What's the most important thing about the holiday for you?
Having faith in *something*...the human spirit or a bright future or love or family or friendship or whatever, but Christmas is about believing in something.

15. What is your favourite holiday dessert?
We have one dessert that is specific to Christmas...an apple torte that we've had every year since forever. It's really good, and very connected to the season for us.

16. What is your favourite holiday tradition?
So many...umm...reading stories by the fire. No matter what else changes, we'll always do that.

17. What tops your tree?
a star John made in preschool.

18. What do you prefer, giving or recieving?
I like both....

19. What's your favourite Christmas song(s)?
I love lots of Christmas songs...I'm especially fond of quote Welcome Christmas unquote from the Grinch....but truly, I couldn't choose.

20. Candy Canes: yuck or yummy?
aesthetically pleasing and necessary for the season, but not to be eaten by themselves.

21. Fave Christmas movie?
either It's a Wonderful Life or the Alastor Sim Christmas Carol.

Current mood: lousy with christmas spirit.

3rd December, 2006. 5:14 pm. Choreography progress (I'm posting a *lot* today...)

So we have to choreograph something for jazz class and perform it on not-next-Friday-but-the-one-after-that. Yay. It's a cool assignment...it's just I don't normally have homework for dance class, so it's hard to fit it in....plus my group isn't cooperating. Two of them bailed on today's rehearsal at the last minute, so the other girl and I ended up starting it by ourselves...but we got 30 seconds in, and we're doing 1:15, so we're almost halfway through. We'll manage somehow.

We're doing it to BLT (Bizarre Love Triangle, New Order). It's awesome because it lends itself to a more balletic style, which we need because one of my group members just started jazz this year and is much more familiar with ballet. Also it has a good beat, no tricky rhythms...all that good stuff. Plus it's just a really good song and incredibly fun to dance to. So yay.

I hope we can pull this off....I did it last year with another girl, and we procrastinated and ended up doing it all in the last two days and we didn't know our steps and it sucked. But I think we can do better this year.....*is optimistic* As long as the other two actually show up to rehearsal next week. Otherwise we'll have to do it just the two of us, because I'm not gonna bend over backwards so they can be in it when they didn't show today...

28th November, 2006. 11:05 am. So begins my life of crime

OK, just to clarify, I'm not the type of person who skips school. I'll take the punches, I'll face the consequences, I'll drag myself out of bed and go face a world that hates me because I didn't do my English homework, but today it was just too much. When I realized that I still had EC charts, an editorial assignment, and a take-home quiz to do, and a 35 page chapter to outline, and it was *midnight*, and I knew tonight was going to be even worse, and I got so stressed out that I ended up crying on the sofa, I decided it was time for drastic measures. So I fell asleep on the sofa on purpose, textbook in lap and glasses askew, so I could convince everyone that I had done so *accidentally*, and I wrote Mom a note this morning saying that I felt sickish when I woke up and I hadn't been able to get my work done and I was staying home from school whether she called me in sick or not. (She did, of course, because she's awesome like that...there's no way she didn't know I was faking.) So here I am. A delinquent in the making.

Yes, yes, I know. I brought this on myself. I do not expect pity. I do expect severe chiding. But at least now I've got some time to catch up. Which I should have done over Thanksgiving weekend, I know. But I didn't, so nyeh.

John, beloved brother, Mom must know already, but just the same, tell her and I will rise up and slay you.

Current mood: cranky.
